Shelley Bajorek

Performing Arts Teacher

Shelley, who has been performing since the age of four, graduated from Wayne State with a BFA in acting where she won a Best Supporting Actress award for her portrayal of Rose in Dancing at Lughnasa.  She continued her education at Oakland and Wayne State Universities to earn her teaching certification in English.  Ms. Bajorek has performed locally in dozens of productions, including the world premiere of The Spirit House at Performance Network and the regional premiere of Head over Heels at The Ringwald.   While this is her fourteenth year teaching in a school setting, she has been working with youth in the arts since 2003 as a choreographer, director, and dance teacher.  Mrs. Bajorek is the proud recipient of the Teacher of the Year for the 2024-2025 school year.

    Abha Dearing '92

    Mrs Abha Dearing has been teaching Vocal and Instrumental music for almost 30 years. She received a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Music Education from Wayne State University and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Oakland University. 

    Mrs Dearing was a Mercyaire herself and taught at Mercy for ten years at the start of her career. After several years of performing and teaching in other settings, Mrs Dearing is proud to be back at Mercy where she directs the Mercyaires, Varsity Chorus, Mercy Chamber Orchestra and the Music for the Spring Musical as well as coordinating music for Mass and many other events. 

    As a vocalist and flute-player, Mrs Dearing has traveled the world performing in concert as half of The Dearing Concert Duo (www.dearingconcertduo.com) with her guitarist-husband, Steven.  Mrs Dearing is the recipient of several Detroit Music Awards, including 3 for Outstanding Classical Vocalist. Her choirs regularly score high in competition and many of her students have gone on to successful careers as opera singers, singer-songwriters, pop musicians, orchestra members and music-educators, appearing on tv shows, in-concert and winning awards.

      Aimee Crosby  '09

      Dance Teacher

      Choreographer

      Mercyaires/Spring Musical

      Aimee (Jokinen) Crosby is a proud Mercy alumni with over 25 years of dance experience. She danced at Miss Harriet’s Dance Studio and was a part of their competition team through middle school and high school. At Mercy, Aimee spent countless hours in the drama hallway as a dance captain/student choreographer, working on play crews, and as a member of ITS. During her college years, she fulfilled her bucket list dream of performing professionally at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida in various parades, shows, and special events across property. She loves being “back home” in the Mercy Drama Department working alongside such a talented staff and student team. Her favorite musical she’s seen on Broadway is Next to Normal!

              Lucia Wylie-Eggert 

              Forensics Coach/ Mimes Director

              Lucia Wylie-Eggert directs the Mercy Mimes. She studied visual arts, communication, and dance at Loyola University Chicago. She has danced with Alliance Dance Company, Artlabj, and as a supernumerary with American Ballet Theatre. She loves working with youth and has taught at the YMCA in Detroit and College for Creative Studies in their summer program. She is so pleased to be home at Mercy; she graduated in 2008 as an ITS member involved in the plays, musicals, and mime troupe.
